FACTS: Located in Passyunk Square, South Philly
WHAT I ORDERED:
Sweet Corn Risotto with Avocado, Pancetta, and Sherry
Pork Chop with Grilled Scallion Polenta, Baby Carrots, and Pork Jus
This neighborhood restaurant is a must! The food is gourmet, and the ambience is both warm and romantic. There wasn’t a flaw to be found in either my appetizer or my main course.
I pretty much love risotto of any sort. And sweet corn risotto served on a beautiful summer evening? Yes, please! My appetizer was outstanding and could have easily been served as a main course. It was rich, flavorful, and beyond satisfying.
As for my pork chop, the preparation was similar to that of a red meat dish: sliced and served medium rare. In fact, it’s the first time that I’ve had it prepared this way, making it the best pork chop I’ve ever tasted. It was succulent, cooked to perfection, and left me wanting more.
My dinner was exceptional, and I cannot speak any more highly about this place than I already have.
QUICK TIDBIT: Unlike many of the BYOB restaurants in Philly, Fond has its liquor license and comes with a fully stocked bar.
