FACTS: This is an old-fashioned ice cream shop, located in Old City, Philadelphia.
WHAT I ORDERED:
Homemade Hot Fudge Sundae with Vanilla Bean Ice Cream
One of my favorite desserts of all time is a hot fudge sundae. And when the ingredients consist of handmade vanilla bean ice cream, homemade hot fudge, and fresh whipped cream, this already irresistible treat ends up doing the unthinkable–becoming even more irresistible.
The Franklin Fountain is owned by the Berley Brothers, who also own Shane Confectionary, which is located a few doors down. Both shops look and feel quite similar and have done a wonderful job of preserving a small part of history, along with producing high-quality, handmade products. In addition, these two stores work in conjunction, allowing for select items to be sold at either location.
I highly suggest stopping by for a scoop or two, since it’s a fun place to visit, and the ice cream is delicious. Judging from the long lines, I’m clearly not the only one who feels this way!
